In Canton, within the Blue Hills Reservation and by Ponkapoag Pond, is this sign along the Ponkapoag Pond Trail showing your position relative to the pond.
There are several places to park. The closest is at the Ponkapoag Golf Course parking lot off of Turnpike Street/Washington Street/Mass. Route 138. From there, follow the paved trail named Maple Ave to this junction. The way goes through the golf course - there are fairways on either side and the path is lined with tall trees.
The sign is fairly close to a gate. The path that goes through the gate goes on to the Ponkapoag Pond Dam. The path that goes off left of the sign goes into the golf course, then into woods.
The sign is on a post and a flat board. The map of the Blue Hills Reservation is on one side. Ponkapoag Pond is toward the lower part of the map. At the western end of the pond is an arrow that points to intersection 5175, and has the words, "You Are Here" and a smaller arrow.
