A square calcining kiln located in Milvale Street (Former Bridge Street which was renamed in the 1950's) in Middleport alongside the Trent & Mersey Canal.
In 1907 - Goodwin's Mill Co. Middleport Mill, ground flint, stone, whiting, and potters' materials. The buildings were arranged around a yard, with the kiln in centre.
The Grade: II listed kiln is square in section, with two flues separated only at the apex. (visit link)
A location alongside the canal was important for importing bulky flint, stone and bone.
