Le Donjon d'Amay, dit Tour romane, tour des avoués ou tour des Waroux, est un bâtiment administratif et militaire de l'avouerie d'Amay, construit au XIIe siècle. Il relève du Patrimoine majeur de Wallonie.
Description
La tour est construite sur plan carré, en moellons de grès houiller, autrefois enduits ou badigeonnés. Les pierres d'angle et les encadrement d'ouvertures sont en calcaire mosan taillé plus finement.
La tour mesure 15,60 mètres de haut sous toiture pour 117 m² utiles. Chacun des 3 niveaux ne comportait qu'une seule pièce (cloisonnée à certaines époques).
Histoire
La tour fut construite sur instruction du Prince-évêque Henri II de Leez, désireux de consolider son territoire et de faire face à une éventuelle agression du Comté de Namur.
De Donjon d'Amay, bekend als de Romaanse Toren, de Attorney's Tower of de Waroux Tower, is een administratief en militair gebouw van het Amay Attorney-General's Office, gebouwd in de 12e eeuw. Het maakt deel uit van het belangrijkste erfgoed van Wallonië.
Beschrijving
De toren is gebouwd op een vierkante plattegrond, van steenkoolzandsteenpuin, eenmaal bepleisterd of geborsteld. De hoekstenen en openingsframes zijn gemaakt van fijnere Mosaanse kalksteen.
De toren is 15,60 meter hoog onder het dak voor 117 m² nuttige ruimte. Elk van de 3 verdiepingen had slechts één ruimte (op bepaalde momenten gescheiden).
Geschiedenis
De toren werd gebouwd in opdracht van prins-bisschop Hendrik II van Leez, die zijn grondgebied wilde consolideren en het hoofd wilde bieden aan een mogelijke agressie van het graafschap Namen.

Description
The tower is built on a square plan, of coal sandstone rubble, once plastered or brushed. The corner stones and opening frames are made of more finely cut Mosan limestone.
The tower is 15.60 meters high under the roof for 117 m² of useful space. Each of the 3 levels had only one room (partitioned at certain times).
History
The tower was built on the instructions of Prince-Bishop Henry II of Leez, who wanted to consolidate his territory and face a possible aggression from the County of Namur.
