19 January 1944 USS Langley began action with Rear Adm. Mitscher's Task Force 58 on the attack in the Marshall Islands, Wotje, Taora, and Entwetok. Hit Japanese positions on Palau, Yan, Carolina Islands, New Guinea. Participated in Marianas Campaign, Saipan, Tinian, and the Battle of the Phillippine Sea. Under the command of Admiral Halsey for vessels on Reile and the Philippines. Lent support to the Philippine landings and strikes in the Manila Bay area and participated in the daring raid into the South China Sea supporting Gulf operations. Made raids against Formosa, Indo China and the China coast from 30 December 1944.
