This is a one-story, two-room schoolhouse with a gabled roof. It was constructed in 1929 and was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004. The school operated in this building from 1929 to 1962. A sign over the entrance indicates that the school district began in 1908, and there is a bell on display which rang from the earlier building. The school is located one-half mile west of the intersection of Antioch Road and Highway 74.
The front entrance has two single wood doors with transoms, one for each classroom. The entrance is placed under a cross gabled porch, supported by wood posts. Windows on the front are 6-over-6 double hung. There are two sets of ribbon window units on the rear, each with six 9-over-9 double hung windows.
The school has been refurbished and is currently housing the Johnnie Guthrie McWhirter Senior Center. Mrs. Johnnie McWhirter (1945-1998) was a long-time resident of Antioch.
The school has also been recognized by the William Rives Chapter of the National Society of Colonial Dames XVII Century, who, according to their website, "promotes appreciation for the people, places and events that led to the formation and development of our country."
