The present station opened in 1919 or 1920. It was designed to echo the historic architecture of the city. The central section is flanked by two side naves, one of which is adjacent to the clock tower, which imitates the style of Toledo church towers.
It was restored in the twenty-first century in connection with the inauguration of the Madrid–Toledo high-speed rail line in 2005.
The entire structure is decorated with poly lobed arches and stepped battlements at the top. At one end is the clock tower . Five doors allow access to a hall of great ornamental richness that offers a good sample of the craftsmanship and silversmithing of Toledo: mosaics of tiles, lattices , lockers and forged lamps.
