On the Caribbean coast, between Pointe du Bout and Anses d'Arlet, the Anse à l'Ane is a long and beautiful sandy beach facing the Ilet at Ramiers and at the exit of the Bay of Fort of France.
Bordered all along by hotels and small beach restaurants, the environment of Anse à l'Ane has lost its authenticity over the years with the massive development of new buildings.
Nevertheless, the beach is still very pleasant because of its size, and its usually very calm body of water is perfect for swimming. Connected directly to Fort de France by a shuttle service that provides all-day connections, the Anse à l'Ane is a very popular beach.
If you want to enjoy it in peace, it is wise to come in the morning and avoid weekends. Also, plan a good tube of sunscreen because the shady places are expensive.
Some small wooden carbets equipped with table and benches allow to picnic comfortably. The large wooden pontoon which is used for shuttles is a magnificent diving board.
Hiking trail to the right of the beach that allows you to reach Anse Mitan. Some beautiful views on the Bay of Fort de France.
The many restaurants and bars located directly on the beach offer many possibilities.
