In Brookfield, at Sunset Lake, is the Floating Bridge, which is noted in Roadside America.
The bridge is located on Sunset Lake, by the village center there. Use the web site for directions from I-89.
The bridge is a combination of wood, concrete, and other materials. The deck is made of wood planking, with a single driving lane and two sidewalks.
A historical sign is by the bridge at the east end. Generally, it states that the present bridge is the eighth one at this location. The present bridge was designed to look similar to previous designs, yet incorporates modern materials. It is also modular so that portions of the bridge can be replaced instead of the entire bridge at once.
the entry in Roadside America is short and states: "A bridge that actually floats on the water's surface. Closed in 2008; rebuilt and reopened in 2015." Other comments are entered for the bridge.
