This park is so named because geographically, it is the panhandle of the
Golden Gate Park. It is one block wide and eight blocks long, extending out from the east end of Golden Gate Park. The land is flat, grassy and tree-covered.
From the park website:
This park has a children's playground and basketball courts; and there are restrooms (and water faucets) in the middle of the park at Ashbury St. Biking/jogging trails wind along both the north and south edges of the park. There are also plenty of benches to sit on and take in the scenery.
