The inscription reads - IN AFFECTIONATE REMEMBRANCE OF DOUGLAS HARCOURT STEVENS 2nd LIEUT., THE BUFFS. YOUNGEST AND DEARLY LOVED SON OF EDWARD AND FANNY LOUISA STEVENS OF UPPERTOES, BOBBING. KILLED IN ACTION AT MORLANCOURT, FRANCE, AT DAWN, 6th AUGUST 1918. AGED 19 YEARS 8 MONTHS
