This churchyard cross in St Mary's churchyard, Teynham, has been restored on its original medieval base.

A plaque inside the church tells us that it was restored in memory of Gerard Prideaux Selby, captain, r.a.m.c., b.a.,m.b., bch., oxon, l.r.c.p., m.r.c.s., eldest son of Prideaux George Selby and Elizabeth Mary Alice, his wife, born at Brusons in this parish on April 30th 1891. Killed while tending the wounded at the capture of Thiepval on the 26th day of September 1916 and buried at Ovillers.

The cross is not inscribed.
