Le théâtre Prospero présente, annuellement, deux à trois créations du Groupe de la Veillée et six à neuf spectacles de compagnies invitées.
En 1984, le Groupe de la Veillée fait l'acquisition d'un ancien cinéma abandonné sur la rue Ontario est à Montréal qu'il rénove sommairement en salle de spectacle.
En 1995, on procède à une rénovation importante des lieux grâce à une subvention de près de 3 000 000 $ principalement accordée par le Gouvernement du Québec, afin d'effectuer la reconstruction complète de son bâtiment. Désormais, deux salles et différents locaux aménagés font de ce théâtre l'un des lieux importants de diffusion à Montréal.
En 1999, le Théâtre de la Veillée est rebaptisé Théâtre Prospero. Il doit son nouveau nom (Prospero) au personnage principal de La Tempête de Shakespeare.

The Prospero Theater is a theatrical venue that includes two modular theater spaces. One with a maximum capacity of 180 seats and the other, the intimate room, which can accommodate 45 people.
The Prospero Theater presents, annually, two to three creations of the Groupe de la Veillée and six to nine shows of invited companies.
In 1984, Groupe de la Veillée acquired an old abandoned cinema on Ontario East street in Montreal, which they briefly renovated into a theater.
In 1995, a major renovation of the site was completed with a grant of nearly $ 3,000,000, mainly from the Government of Quebec, to carry out the complete reconstruction of its building. From then on, two rooms and various converted spaces made this theater one of the important places of diffusion in Montreal.
In 1999, the Théâtre de la Veillée was renamed Théâtre Prospero. It owes its new name (Prospero) to the main character of Shakespeare's The Tempest.
