Stavely celebrated their centennial in 2012 with an all day event with the highlights of a horse show and rodeo. Stavely is a rural farming community in southern Alberta with about 500 residents. Situated in what residents of Stavely like to think of as Alberta's "Banana Belt", it is ideal for ranching and farming with rolling prairies to the east and foothills to the west. Stavely is known for being the Home of Canada's 1st Indoor Rodeo.

The Stavely Centennial mural is in three panels across and above the entrance to the Community Hall. Each panel shows some of the history of Stavely. The left panel is "Slim" Haynes a right-handed pitcher from 1909-1943. He was indoctrinated into Alberta Sports Hall of Fame and is featured in Ripley's Believe It Or Not! for pitching 31 years for the same ball club. He started his career right here in Stavely.

The center panel celebrates Stavely's Centennial 1912 - 2012 and the right panel shows Stavely's rolling prairies and a bucking bronco with rider still holding on for 8 seconds.
