When the Penobscot Building was completed in 1928, it was the world's eighth tallest building and the tallest building outside of New York and Chicago. It remained the tallest building in Detroit's skyline for nearly 50 years when the Renaissance Center was completed in 1977. Today, the third tallest building in Detroit, the Penobscot continues to provide valuable office space in the heart of the city's financial district.
