Blijkens een steen in de voorgevel dateert de kapel uit 1947. De kapel is gebouwd ter herdenking van het feit, dat een beeld van Onze Lieve Vrouw van Fatima in bedevaartvorm door Europa trok. Op 2 september 1947 werd het beeld bij de Nederlands-Belgische grens door het Bisdom Luik overgedragen aan het Bisdom Roermond. Mgr. Lemmens zegende de kapel in en het beroemde beeld sierde korte tijd de kapel, waarna het zijn weg verder vervolgde. Nieuwe beelden werden regelmatig gestolen. Beveiligingsmaatregelen hopen nieuw vandalisme tegen te gaan. De kapel is van binnen wit geschilderd met uitzondering van een altaar in schoon metselwerk. Op dit altaar bevindt zich, beschermd door een ijzeren kooi, een beeld van Maria van Fatima.

The chapel dates from 1947, according to a stone in the façade. The chapel was built to commemorate the fact that a statue of Our Lady of Fatima was pilgrimage through Europe. On September 2, 1947, the image at the Dutch-Belgian border was transferred by the Diocese of Liège to the diocese of Roermond. Mgr. Lemmens blessed the chapel and the famous statue briefly adorned the chapel, after which it continued on its way. New images were regularly stolen. Security measures hope to prevent new vandalism.
