The broad Zincalume/Colorbond shed, with a low-pitched hip iron roof was opened over 20 years ago, as the 'Bushfire Services Headquarters' for the semi-remote community of Emmaville. As it is over 30 minutes drive to any bigger Firehouse this has to service quite a large area with the local volunteers. It backs onto a Helicopter Pad, which in turn backs onto the local 'Hospital', "Vegetable Creek Multi Purpose Services Unit" (MPS), a modern 17 bed facility, which was built in 2002. https://www.gisc.nsw.gov.au/about-area/emmaville
Unfortunately nothing extra is known about (online at least) Councillor Errol H. Scherf, though there has been other councillors with that surname in the Severn Shire Council since 1995. He is mentioned on the plaque, as follows:
SEVERN SHIRE COUNCIL
EMMAVILLE BUSHFIRE SERVICES HEADQUARTERS
Officially opened by
Councillor Errol H. Scherf
on 3rd September 1995
The Severn Shire Council greatly appreciates the contribution
and support of the Bushfire Services in the erection of this building.
