A plaque is displayed at the athletic track at Cushing High School honoring Coach Max Combrink. The track is now named for him.
Max Combrink was a three-sport star when he attended Cushing High School from 1953-1956. In his Senior year he was an All-State football player, and when he attended East Central College in 1961 he was All-Conference End. He returned to Cushing High School in 1965 as a coach for footbal, basketball and track/field.
The plaque honoring him reads:

He organized and implemented construction of
the first cinder track for Cushing High School.
He led and served with a powerful
and positive attitude. He influenced
and changed one life at a time.
