The Ladies of the Maccabees were a women's service club that traced its roots to 1886, when it was founded as an auxiliary to the all-male Knights of the Maccabees. The building was built in 1906, at the same time the Ladies split with the Knights.
After 20 years the Ladies and Knights merged, with the Port Huron building serving as headquarters. In 1928, the organization moved its headquarters to Detroit, and the building was sold to the local Board of Education. It served as campus for Port Huron Junior College until 1957, and then as administraive offices. In 1981 it was sold to a group of attorneys as private offices.
It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.
