Een Toeristisch Overstappunt (TOP) is een 'natuurlijk knooppunt', waar diverse fiets-, vaar-, skate- en wandelroutes beginnen. Iedere TOP is herkenbaar aan het herkenningspunt, een soort van obelisk wordt in het oosten van het land gebruikt, een grashalm in het Groene Hart en een opvallend grote informatiezuil in de regio Gooi & Vecht en regio Rivierenland. Bij TOPs zijn vaak ook enkele zitplaatsen, een fietsrek en een wegwijzer. TOPs in de regio Gooi & Vecht zijn bovendien altijd voorzien van een fietsverhuur (houder mobiele tel. aanwezig), horeca, (gratis) toiletten, een ANWB Fietsservicebox en een VVV informatiepunt.

Bij elke TOP geeft een informatiepaneel met kaarten van de omgeving en borden de juiste richting naar de verschillende routes. De TOP's zijn meestal gesitueerd bij gratis parkeerplaatsen; sommige zijn ook bij een NS-station geplaatst, zodat ook treinreizigers van de TOP gebruik kunnen maken.

A Tourist Transfer Point (TOP) is a 'natural hub', where various cycling, sailing, skating and walking routes begin. Every TOP is recognizable at the landmark, a kind of obelisk is used in the east of the country, a grass in the Green Heart and a remarkably large information column in the Gooi & Vecht region and the Rivierenland region. At TOPs are often also a few seats, a bicycle rack and a signpost. TOPs in the Gooi & Vecht region are also always equipped with a bicycle rental service (cell phone holder present), catering, (free) toilets, an ANWB bicycle service box and a tourist information point.

At each TOP, an information panel with maps of the area and signs gives the right direction to the different routes. The TOPs are usually located at free parking places; some have also been placed at a railway station, so train passengers can also make use of the TOP.
