The Port Huron Artificial Ice Company was located on the corner of 4th and Wall Streets in downtown Port Huron. It was one of over 30 companies that provided ice and water to local citizenry and service shipborne and railroad goods that required refrigeration in the days before electricity and generator-powered refrigeration units.
As electricity and improved refrigeration techniques became commonplace most of these companies passed into history. By the early 1960's all, including this one, had closed forever.
