EN In 1888, Léon Vanlancker decided to move a stone's throw from the Grand Place to run a restaurant with 5 tables called "A la Ville d'Anvers". In 1893, he moved a few metres away, to 18 rue des Bouchers, and opened his "Friture Léon". As the years go by, the house grows slowly but surely. The real rise will take place from 1958, the date of the Universal Exhibition, when Brussels becomes the undisputed capital of the "mussel-fried". Since then, Vanlancker has continued to grow. Today, spread over 9 buildings, more than a thousand diners are served every day in a friendly and friendly atmosphere. All come to taste, on an almost unchanging menu, either one of the fourteen mussel recipes or the 120 traditional dishes of Belgian cuisine. But for more than ten years, the "Good King Leon" has not rested on his laurels. He gathered his troops and decided to go into the field. At the beginning of 1989, the dynamism of the Vanlancker heirs was reflected in the opening of a new Léon restaurant in Brussels, as part of Bruparck, in the shadow of the Atomium. FR En 1888, Léon Vanlancker décide de s’installer à deux pas de la Grand Place pour exploiter un restaurant de 5 tables baptisé «A la Ville d’Anvers ». En 1893, il déménage à quelques mètres de là, au 18 rue des Bouchers, et ouvre sa «Friture Léon ». Les années passent et la maison grandit doucement mais sûrement. La véritable ascension se fera à partir de 1958, date de l’ Exposition Universelle , lorsque Bruxelles devient la capitale incontestée du «moule – frite». Depuis, l’entreprise Vanlancker n’a cessé de croître. Aujourd’hui étendue sur 9 immeubles, plus de mille couverts sont servis chaque jour toujours dans une ambiance souriante et conviviale. Tous viennent déguster, sur une carte quasi immuable, soit une des quatorze recettes de moules ou des 120 plats traditionnels de la cuisine belge . Mais depuis plus de dix ans, le «bon Roi Léon » ne s’est pas reposé sur ses lauriers. Il a rassemblé ses troupes et décidé de partir en campagne. Au début de l’année 1989, le dynamisme des héritiers Vanlancker se concrétise par l’ouverture d’un nouveau restaurant Léon à Bruxelles, dans le cadre de Bruparck, à l’ombre de l’Atomium. Puis, la même année, c’est l’ arrivée en France avec l’ouverture de 75 restaurants en ving cinq ans.
