In 1935, Cushing's American Legion Post, Donaldson-Walker Post 108 erected this memorial in Fairlawn Cemetery. This Post was chartered in November of 1919. The Post is named after Irvin Donaldson and Joe Walker; both were Cushing natives that were killed-in-action during World War I. Irvin Donaldson was returned home 1921, and is buried at Fairlawn Cemetery. Joe Walker is buried at Flanders Field American Cemetery and Memorial (WW I) in Waregem, Belgium.
