Ce site et ses fortifications, classé et reconnu comme patrimoine exceptionnel de la Région wallonne, illustrent plusieurs siècles d’occupation et d’architecture militaire depuis le Moyen-Age jusqu’au 20ème siècle.
Ancrée sur un éperon rocheux particulièrement impressionnant, ce site patrimonial exceptionnel a pu conserver les traces de chaque période de ses 2000 ans d’histoire.
La citadelle de Namur, est divisée en trois parties (strates) : Donjon, représentant la partie inférieure, Médiane pour la partie intermédiaire et Terra Nova pour la partie supérieure. Son sommet culmine à 190 m d'altitude.
Deze site en zijn fortificaties, geklasseerd en erkend als uitzonderlijk erfgoed van het Waals Gewest, illustreren verschillende eeuwen van bezetting en militaire architectuur van de Middeleeuwen tot de 20e eeuw.
Deze uitzonderlijke erfgoedsite, die op een bijzonder indrukwekkende rotsachtige uitloper is gebouwd, heeft de sporen van elke periode van zijn 2000 jaar geschiedenis weten te bewaren.
De citadel van Namen, is verdeeld in drie delen (strata): Donjon, die het onderste deel, mediaan voor het tussenliggende deel en Terra Nova voor het bovenste deel. De top culmineert op 190 m hoogte.
