One of the signs on the west wall of the Park relates the story of an event that occurred in 1902. The sign reads:

Post Office Stolen!!
According to contemporary newspaper
accounts sometime after midnight on
September 13, 1902 local residents woke
to find the post office stolen from Main
Street and moved to E. Broadway.
It was relocated to 104 E. Broadway for
sometime, then moved a few more times
until its present location on S. Cleveland
was dedicated in 1935.
