Born just nine days after the bombing of Pearl Harbor, this American Legion post's birthday is December 16, 1941. Currently the Legion has about 100 members.

America Legion Post 127 is an important part of the close-knit Lake Helen community. It serves as the host for the Korean War Veterans Association Chapter 153, the US Military Veterans M/C Chapter 9 and related Auxiliary units and sponsors Boy Scouts of America Troop 590, Cub Scout Pack 590 and Girl Scout Troop 807. It also presents achievement medals to Junior ROTC units at local high schools
