The Fara is a mountain west of the village of Dalwhinnie in the central Highlands of Scotland. It is 2989 feet high, making it one of the highest Corbetts (a mountain in Scotland between 2500 and 3000 feet high). The mountain is actually a long ridge extending from south-west to north-east along the side of Loch Ericht with the highest point near the north-eastern extremity above Dalwhinnie. This is marked by a cairn of just over ten feet tall, constructed from the remnants of a drystone dyke that runs from the summit down the south-eastern slope for a few hundred yards before mysteriously ending and being replaced by a line of old iron fenceposts.

The quickest route up the mountain from Dalwhinnie along the loch's edge and through a break in the forest, follows the line of the fence then dyke up to the summit. The cairn is rather misshapen and is clearly being added to with more stones.
