This courthouse is the oldest courthouse in Illinois that is still in use. It was built in 1839 in the Greek Revival architectural style by Gorham and Durley (architectural company).

Of course, over the years the interior has been remodeled and updated. New additions have been added to the rear of the building. However, the exterior appearance of the original front of the building has been kept original as much as possible.

It is open during normal business hours on weekdays.
