In Newbury, at the First Parish Burial Ground, is a grave for Amos (Jr) Sargeant, who died from an accidental discharge of a musket.

The cemetery is located north of the town common and is along High Street, across the street from the First Parish church in Newbury. Park in the church parking lot.

The grave marker is near the northern end of the cemetery, where some of the oldest graves in the cemetery are located (some back to the 1600s). There is no good landmark in the area. This is one of the more complete markers - many in this area are faded/chipped or broken off.

The text on this marker faces north. The marker text is as follows:

"Amos Sargent
died May 2, 1811
Aged 55.
Dolly, his wife, died March 4, 1840: Aged 79.
Elizabeth died Oct. 26, 1790: Aged 8 yrs.
Amos was killed by an accidental discharge of a musket, March 7, 1802
Aged 7 yrs:
Children of Amos & Dolly Sargent."
