Walter Baker Park was named for the local Member of Parliament, Walter David Baker (1930-1983). Many other things in Ottawa were also named after Walter Baker.
Covering more than 44 hectares, Walter Baker Park stretches from Maple Grove Road to Hazeldean Road and from Terry Fox Drive to the Carp River. Walter Baker Park is the largest municipal park in Kanata. The park already contains six waymarks. There are so many signed features within the park, it is difficult to find the one park sign, along the west side of Terry Fox Drive, south of Maple Grove Road.
