The lighthouse on the South Pier in South Haven was scheduled to be decommissioned by the federal government. The "Save the Light" campaign was initiated by the Historical Association of South Haven as a way to raise money to purchase the lighthouse. The dedicated bricks were one of the fund-raising programs to save the lighthouse. The bricks and commemorative plaques are located near the South Pier entrance along the South Haven Harborwalk.
