The Church of the Assumption of Our Lady of Champ-le-Duc is a Romanesque building built in the twelfth century (perhaps in the eleventh century, but without any evidence) on the site of an alleged ninth century villa which is credited with founding the Emperor Charlemagne himself, who had the habit of coming to hunt in the area.
