CNHS Gravelbourg Ecclesiastical Buildings - Les Édifices Ecclésiques de Gravelbourg

These imposing buildings are vital symbols of French Canadian colonization efforts undertaken by the Roman Catholic Church in Western Canada in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Consisting of the cathedral, Bishop's residence, and the former convent school, the site is also associated with one the the Church's most important missionary-colonizers, Father Louis-Pierre Gravel. Architect Joseph-Ernest Fortin designed this ensemble, which is outstanding in scale and architectual refinement.
