The local American Legion Post has sponsored this granite memorial. On the front is the dedication, with an engraving of a head and shoulder of a soldier, and the seals of the American Legion and its Auxiliary. On the back is a poem and an engraving of an American flag. It stands on the southwest corner of the intersection of W. 6th Avenue and S. Husband, in front of the Payne County Courthouse.
