La mairie
A l'entrée de la partie fortifiée de la ville, par la porte de Savoie, la mairie est le premier bâtiment sur la droite.
C'est un édifice qui semble avoir été restauré durant ces dernières années et dont les trois fenêtres du haut, ne sont que des peinture en trompe-l’œil.
Le nom de MAIRIE semble écrit à la romaine sur une plaque de marbre et est surmonté du drapeau français.

Colmars
Le nom de la ville est tantôt Colmars, tantôt Colmars les Alpes.
On retrouve la trace écrite de Colmars qui dépendait des comtes de Provence lors de la création d'un consulat au bourg pour rendre la justice.
La ville fait l'objet de nombreuses attaques

• Paulon de Mauvans, capitaine protestant, pille la ville en 1560
• Un capitaine opérant pour son compte, Cartier, prend et rançonne la ville en 1583
• Les Ligueurs la saccagent quelques années plus tard
• En 1690, un détachement piémontais assiège la place et incendie Villars (village tout proche), ce qui pousse au renforcement des défenses de la ville.

En 1593, la ville commence à se doter de rempart pour la transformer en place force.
Le fort Saint-Martin, devenu fort de Savoie, puis fort Desaix est fini en 195.
Le Le fort Sud, devenu Fort du Calvaire, puis Fort de France, puis Fort Soult est fini en 1695
Après ces épisodes, la ville commence à se spécialiser dans une production d’une toile grossière, du genre du cadis et appelée cordeillat qui sera fabriquée jusqu'en 1926

La mairie
At the entrance of the fortified part of the city, through the gate of Savoy, the town hall is the first building on the right.

Colmars
The name of the city is sometimes Colmars, sometimes Colmars les Alpes. One finds the written trace of Colmars which depended on the Counts of Provence at the time of the creation of a consulate in the village to render justice.
