A modern headstone marks the final resting place of an unknown traveler whose burial at Greenhill Cemetery was the first, way back in late 1860.

This modern, gray, granite flat headstone was obviously placed at a much later date, maybe even recently, given its excellent condition. Enclosed in a black border is this text:

First Grave in Cemetery
Unknown Traveler
Died at Chas. Black Farm
Approx. Dec. 1860

The Internet and Findagrave are silent about this one. There is a Charles Black buried here, but he was thirteen in 1860. Perhaps this is another Charles Black, perhaps the name refers to the farm at a later date when he presumably inherited it. Interestingly, the second and third graves in the cemetery received similar treatment.
Burial Location: Greenhill Cemetery

Available Times for Viewing: Daylight hours
