The text from the cairn:
Greenwood Cemetery
Greenwood Cemetery was started in 1885 as a private enterprise by Charles Shaw and James W. Brown on twelve acres just east of Ridgetown. Upon the death of Mr. Shaw, the cemetery passed into the hands of B.W. Wilson.
In 1907, because of its unkempt condition, trustees were appointed to oversee the operation and the funds of the cemetery. On june 12, 1913 "Greenwood Cemetery Corporation" was formed to buy out Mr. Willsons ownership of the property The site has remained in this corporation's care since that time.
The first directors of Greenwood Cemetery Corporation were: Thomas Craig, JOhn Spence, George Grant, Virgil Springsteen, Jonathon Eskritt and George Leatherdale.
This cairn was dedicated in June of 1995 to commemorate all of those individuals who have contributed to the care and maintenance of the site. Their efforts and financial assistance have built a lasting memorial to all who are laid to rest at Greenwood Cemetery
