St Attracta's Catholic Church is named after a 6th century Irish saint who made her vows to St Patrick. Mass was being said in the district from the 1860s - usually by itinerant priests who travelled from Beechworth - but it wasn't until 1898 that St Attracta's was completed and consecrated replacing a wooden 1872 building on the site next door
