District Map

"Drive along Elm Street in Downtown Washington any night of the week, and you’ll notice a vibrancy at No. 227 — the Old Dutch Hotel & Tavern.

"Light pouring out the windows of the newly restored circa 1923 building seems to draw customers in, like moths to a flame. The attraction, owners Rick and Heidi Wunderlich and Dan and Phyllis Cassette say, is three-fold — good food, good service and good location.

"If you have lived in Washington for at least the last 30 years, you probably remember when the Old Dutch was last opened as a restaurant and hotel. In recent years the building had been home to Not Just Cut & Dried, which has since moved across the street to the old Elm Street Company location." ~ The Missourian, August 24, 2011

Today:
"Nearly 80 years since it became a household name in the Washington community, the Old Dutch Hotel & Tavern has once again opened its doors. Just three blocks from Amtrak’s riverfront station in the heart of Washington’s downtown shopping district, the meticulously renovated restaurant and upstairs hotel feature a full bar, deliciously updated menu and 14 modern, comfortable rooms." ~ Old Dutch Hotel

General comments:
IN the true tradition of a tavern, in the understanding of the 1880s what a tavern is, and a full hotel above...it what train travelers, and stage coach travelers would still recognize.
