The initials stand for William Ann Pochin (1844-1901) who was "Lord of the Manor of Bourne Abbots and High Sheriff of Leics. He owned a number of properties and in 1849 Barkby Hall was recorded as his principal seat and residence. However, by 1881 it seems that he lived at Edmondthorpe Hall (built 1621). He is credited with establishing and improving many properties locally, which often carry a date and his initials."
