ENGLISH

Designed by architects Hutchison and Wood (John Abbott College, the Canadian Express Building (now St. Paul's Hotel) and the Duluth Building) and built in 1927 at 297 Duke Street (now Robert-Bourassa), Duke Investments Limited Bank currently is currently maintained on pillars, protected from the construction site surrounding it.

It is a neoclassical stone building. Characterized by three semicircular arches on its facade, it seems modest compared to other banks erected at the same time in Montreal. Given its great heritage interest (recognized as part of the Griffintown Heritage Value Area) and although it is not protected under the Cultural Heritage Act, the City of Montreal still required that it be preserved. and integrated into a real estate project that could have caused its loss. It will be integrated into the front of the Duke, a condo building that will be inaugurated in 2020. The building of the former bank will host a grocery store of approximately 20,000 square feet.
