The Oxbow Inn was constructed 1n 1933 as the Payson Hotel on Main Street. It was situated at the original entrance to town, now bypassed by Hwy. 87. The bottom floor was the kitchen, dining room and bar. There were nine rooms on the second floor with one bathroom. The base was of red sandstone with ponderosa pine logs making up the upper walls and roof. In remodelling a false front has been added, hiding the original similarity to the Yellowstone Lodge.
