GOOD TIME ON
THE RIVERFRONT
It's time for some fun in the sun. Welcome to Washington's first analemmatic sundial. To use it, you need sunshine to create a shadow. To read the time, stand on the middle of the pad, next to the current month (see figure). Then, follow your shadow to the ring of hour points. This sundial is set for daylight savings, so during the winter months subtract an hour from what your shadow shows. This sundial shows true local time, which changes throughout the year due to the Earth's axial tilt and orbit, while your clock shows standard mean time, which is what everyone in a time zone agrees on. Thus, the sundial may not exactly match your watch. Enjoy!!

Thanks to my troop, family, friends, and local companies and organizations who helped with this project.
