Franklin School was constructed in 1909 and was designed by school architect William B. Ittner. Originally it was called Franklin Elementary School, in 1934 it became Booker T Washington Vocational High School then became International Studies Academy until 1992. From 1992 until 1996 it was Continuing Education High School. The building was vacated in 1996. The building is being converted to a senior living facility. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.
