Elle s'est nommée la rue de la Grande-Horloge et précédemment la rue Droite.

  • n°17 Hôtel d’Estienne de Saint-Jean
    Les Estienne de Saint-Jean possédaient à cet emplacement, depuis la fin du XVIème siècle, une vieille demeure. Au siècle suivant, pendant la Ligue, François d’Estienne demeura fidèle à Henri III et Henri IV et fur proscrit d’Aix par les Liguers. La demeure passa alors dans une famille de parlementaires, les Martigny, héritiers du nom et de la fortune des Estienne. C’est vers 1670 que l’ancienne demeure fut transformée sous la direction du grand architecte Pierre Puget. L’Hôtel Estienne de Saint-Jean est devenu en 1932 le musée d’histoire de la Ville d’Aix-en-Provence, « Musée du Vieil Aix ».

    Cet hôtel, célèbre par ses peintures murales et par le séjour, fut bâti vers le milieu du XVIIe siècle par le conseiller au Parlement J.-F. d’Aimar d’Albi, baron de Châteaurenard, sur l’emplacement d’un vieil immeuble qui avait appartenu au siècle précédent aux Rascas, seigneurs du Canet. Le roi Louis XIV y fit un séjour en 1660.
  • n°21 Hôtel Boyer de Fonscolombe (Ou de Grimaldi-Régusse, ou de Saporta)
    Construit en 1650 pour le président Charles de Grimaldi, marquis de Régusse, baron de Roumoules. Il fut vendu au XVIIIe siècle aux Forbin La Barben. En 1743, il fut acquis par Honoré Boyer de Fonscolombe.
  • n°23 Hôtel de Maynier d’Oppède (Ou d’Estienne du Bourguet)
    L’hôtel a été depuis 1490 dans la famille des Maynier d’Oppède, qui de 1507 à 1671 a donné au Parlement quatre premiers présidents sur vingt-deux, dont Jean de Maynier qui fit exécuter au XVIème siècle l’arrêt de Mérindol. L’hôtel a été acheté et rebâti en 1730 par les Thomassin de Saint Paul, parlementaires. Faculté des Lettres de 1846 à 1950, l’hôtel abrite aujourd’hui divers instituts de recherche et d’études.

    Inhabited house, in the XVth century by Pierre Capellet, architect from Aix, builder of the Saint-Mitre abbey chapel at Saint-Sauveur cathedral.
  • n°17 Hôtel d'Estienne de Saint-Jean Since the end of the 16th century, the Estienne de Saint-Jean had an old residence on this site. In the following century, during the League, François d'Estienne remained faithful to Henri III and Henri IV and was outlawed from Aix by the Liguers. The residence then passed into a family of parliamentarians, the Martigny family, heirs of the name and fortune of the Estienne family. It was around 1670 that the old residence was transformed under the direction of the great architect Pierre Puget. In 1932, the Hôtel Estienne de Saint-Jean became the history museum of the City of Aix-en-Provence, "Musée du Vieil Aix".

    This hotel, famous for its wall paintings and for the living room, was built around the middle of the seventeenth century by the adviser to the Parliament J.-F. d'Aimar d'Albi, baron of Châteaurenard, on the site of an old building that had belonged in the previous century to the Rascas, lords of the Canet. King Louis XIV stayed there in 1660.
