This church was established in 1822-23 by the Methodists led by Reverend Alvin Torry and the local aboriginal peoples. The first structure was built in 1828-29 and a new church was built out of brick in 1860. The current church was constructed in 1902.

The area is designated with an Ontario Heritage Plaque.
