[ENG] The border between the two once independent neighbouring towns of Altona "A" and Hamburg "H" began at the Altonaer Fischmarkt. At the 4 foot wide border line, which led from the fish market to the Eimsbüttler market place, already in 1607 on behalf of the Danish king, wooden border posts were set by the Altonaer border commission, which were replaced in the period from 1856 to 1900 by corresponding granite stones. The STeine was marked in alphabetical order from "A" to "V". This is the southernmost landmark and bears the letter "A".
