Bennachie is an area of high ground in the district of Garioch in Aberdeenshire, around twenty miles north-west of the city of Aberdeen. Best known for the prominent granite tor at the eastern end called Mither Tap, the highest point of the range is over a mile to the west at Oxen Craig (pronounced ow-sin). Although not as prominent a summit, it has its own rocky protuberances, as well as an 360 degree indicator.
Like the indicator on Mither Tap, it is a stainless steel disc on a stone cylinder situated to the south of a cairned shelter. The inscription in the centre of the disc reads as follows:
