These Historical Society of Berks County Blue and Gold roadside marker can be found on Blacksmith Road in the beautiful Oley Valley. This marker gives directions to a bit of early history from the 1700's on how this area was developed.
Date placed: 01/01/1923

Historic significance:
Jean Bertolet was an early Huguenot settler of Oley Valley immigrating from France. This marker was placed by The Berks Historical Society along with the home of the deBenneville Family, who founded Universalism to native Americans.
