A short distance north of the highway at Weethalle is a short and simple, but poignant black granite obelisk War Memorial.

A concrete and brick pavers path leads to a short (~1.2 metres high) polished black granite obelisk. It sits on a six-sided 15 cm high polished black granite step, which is mounted on a rectangular concrete step. The brick pavers lead further to the north to the original Remembrance Garden, where there is a sandstone stela with a white cross, surmounted by a WW1 soldiers tin hat. There is a simple brass plaque attached, which reads:

     IN MEMORY

OF THOSE WHO SERVED

   LEST WE FORGET

As my transcribing of the obelisk below shows, (Errors and Omissions - mine!) while the names are in two columns on each of the four faces of the obelisk, and mostly in alphabetical order, there is an exception, for a later entry. The names are for all those that attended any of the conflicts mentioned, with no differentiation as to which, or when. They read:

   WEETHALLE
  WAR MEMORIAL

    Commemorating those
from Weethalle and district
  who served in the Armed
     Forces during the
    Boer War, WWI, WWII,
       Korea, Malaya
   and Vietnam conflicts
