This is a two-story red brick barn constructed in 1934 as a seed barn. It is known by several names: Seed House, Agronomy Barn and Barn A. A wood sign on the east end of the barn reads: "BARN A 610". A Reinforced concrete framing and 8" masonry exterior has allowed this barn to retain its integrity. The tall Gambrel roof is its highlight feature. The roof rises 21 ft. from eave to ridge and is topped with five steel vent ducts which originally supplied fresh air to the workers within. This loft area also has a concrete deck.
The windows throughout are six-pane fixed, set individually on both levels, plus the ends of the loft area. The barn is 108 ft. long and 44 ft. wide and is supplied with electricity and heat. Overhead doors at either end offer access to the walkway which runs through the building east to west. Original animal stalls have mostly been converted to research areas. In the 1950's three large greenhouses were added to the south side of the barn. The barn was placed on the National Register in 2004.
